            The California and nationwide programs are for low income, senior, and disabled tax payers.

            Did the amount of tax you owed come as a shock?  Save  all year long, in easy, monthly installments  for next year’s taxes.  Open a  separate  savings account at Women's Southwest earmarked  for taxes.   Ask us for details on “Savings Simplifier” accounts.  Minimum balance is only $25;  no  recurring service fees!

 IN CALIFORNIA & OTHER STATES

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) & Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE)

            The VITA program is a joint effort of the Franchise Tax Board and the Internal Revenue Service.  It consists of volunteers who provide free assistance to individuals who cannot afford professional help:  low income residents, senior citizens—60 years of age and older—and disabled taxpayers with basic questions and returns.  

            Many of the programs are seasonal, available from only early February through early-to-mid-April. 

Offerings vary, and may or may not include the following services:

·        by appointment only

·        walk-in

·        disabled access

·        for shut-ins

·        Spanish and other languages in addition to English

·        for military personnel
