Your 1099-INT form for 2009 tax year:
Are you working on your tax returns and wondering why you did not receive a 1099-INT form for 2009? Look at the statement you received for the period ending Dec. 31., 2009. Look at the bottom of the last page under the heading "Account Summary." Then look at the dollar amount below the heading that reads, "YTD Dividend." If the amount shown there is less than $10, report the amount listed there to your tax preparer or fill it in on your own return. The IRS asks financial institutions to send 1099-INT forms to a depositor only if she/he has an account in that one institution that earned $10 ore more in one calendar year. If your tax preparer insists on receiving documentation to substantiate the amount you give to her/him, you may want to photocopy the year-end statement we sent you in January. Kindly contact us if you have any questions. |
